Position: Managing Director
Qualifications:
BA (Hons) Theology
Accredited Programmes Facilitator:

  • Think First
  • Black and Asian Pathfinder
  • DIDP (Drink Impaired Drivers Programme)
  • C.A.L.M (Control Action Learn to Manage It)
  • O.S.A.P (Offender Substance Abuse Programme)

Ricky’s desire to work with offenders, and those on the periphery of offending stems from his formative years spent in Young Offenders Institutions and adult prisons. After serving 4 years Ricky pursued a career in professional football and quickly established himself playing for Leyton Orient and Southend United Football Clubs. In December 1994 Ricky became Birmingham City’s record signing when he was bought for £800,000. Unfortunately in 1999, through injury Ricky was forced to retire from the professional game. After retirement Ricky pursed his other passion of working with disadvantaged, disaffected and marginalised youths within the urban communities.

As a Probation Service Officer qualified in programme facilitation, Ricky gained extensive experience over 6 years working at great lengths with some of the country’s most prolific persistent offenders.

By his own admission Ricky strenuously believes that his transformation from a juvenile delinquent to a respected offender empowerment consultant means he is able to encourage, empower and motivate individuals to make those life changing decisions to a better reality.

JOYCE SMITH

Email: joycesmith@livingxperienceconsultancy.co.uk
Position: Managing Director
Qualifications:
BA (Hons) LLB Law
Accredited Programmes Facilitator:

  • Think First
  • Cognitive Skills Booster
  • Black and Asian Pathfinder
  • DIDP (Drink Impaired Drivers Programme)
  • Woman’s Acquisitive Programme
  • I.D.A.P. (Integrated Domestic Abuse Programme)
  • O.S.A.P (Offender Substance Abuse Programme)

Joyce Smith was considered among her peers as someone who was dedicated, hardworking and conscientious regarding her role and duties within the National Probation Service. Whilst studying Law, Joyce worked voluntarily for various community initiatives engaging with the “hard to reach” youths within the deprived areas of Birmingham. This gave Joyce the opportunity to work hands on with some of the most disadvantaged youths who were already known within the Criminal Justice System.

Her time working with offenders and those on the periphery of offending inspired Joyce so much that after completing her law degree, she decided to abort her plans to go into law, preferring the more hands on approach that came with engaging with offenders. With multiple transferable skills from her days working within the voluntary sector, Joyce quickly established herself within the National Probation Service as a Probation Service Officer. Her drive and determination, coupled with sincerity and empathy for those disaffected and marginalised, means her desire for change will not cease until change is evident.

LLOYD ODAIN

Email: lloydodain@livingxperienceconsultancy.co.uk
Position: Facilitator Development Officer
Qualifications:
BA (Hons) Criminology with Psychology
Accredited Programmes Facilitator

  • Think First
  • Cognitive Skills Booster
  • Black and Asian Pathfinder
  • A.R.T (Aggression Replacement Therapy)
  • C.D.V.P (Community Domestic Violence Programme)

Ambivalence could not be associated with Lloyd Odain with regards to working with offenders and those on the periphery of offending. His insatiable appetite for youth development, community care and community justice highlights an individual whose vernacular for change speaks volumes. As a youth worker for Reading Borough Council dealing with young people aged 11 to 21 years from disadvantaged backgrounds, and mentor for Reading Refocus on a voluntary basis enabled Lloyd to gain valuable experience working in the community. Understanding diversity and the problems individuals encountered gave him an emphatic view of young people.

This experience motivated Lloyd to seek employment within the Criminal Justice System escorting high and low risk prisoners to prisons and courts within the UK. It was during this period of employment that Lloyd realised his ability to communicate, relate, empathise and connect with offenders would be more suited to a group facilitated environment where he’d be able to help individuals achieve positive change and stability in their lives.

In 2003 Lloyd made the transition from custodial officer to programmes facilitator for the National Probation Service Thames Valley. Grabbing the bull by its horns, Lloyd wasted no time establishing himself as a Probation Service Officer who wanted to make a difference. Throughout his 7 years employment for Thames Valley Probation he acquired all probationary qualifications, fully equipping himself with all the tools necessary for maximum effectiveness when motivating, challenging and empowering individuals to change.
